On August 20, 2016, a fundraising evening was held for an organization that allows Israeli cardiologists to study in the United States, Save A Heart Foundation. That evening, Ruth met Yossi Shalev, an activist in the organization.

Yossi was one of Ruth's clients at the end of 1967. Ruth saved him from deportation from the United States due to problems with the diplomatic visa which he did not properly convert into a student visa. Since then they have remained in touch.

In 1990, after Yossi's return to Israel, Ruth recruited him to help her with the Likud party's affairs.

Ruth was widowed five years before their reunion, Yossi was then divorced. From that meeting Ruth and Yossi did not part, spending time together on trips around the world.
